Folk music with a flavor of the '30s-40s is injected with fresh, modern storytelling. Petal Shop, from Detroit, performs with an energy that is at once the subtle tension of an intimate folk concert and the wild, pentecostal drive of punk-driven bluegrass. Fiddle, banjo and guitar cling to each other as three vocals intersect and blend into a single, stratified voice. Dancing is common, both on and off stage as Petal Shop's members beg for “just one 'amen!'”
