Named “Best Play” in Michigan’s 2007 theatre competition, Revival at Possum Kingdom Community Church comes to SCA mainstage!

This original comedy has entertained audiences with its unforgettable characters, all of whom learn some of life’s important lessons during a rollicking revival meeting in Possum Kingdom, Texas.

The play’s new director, Phil Sturdevant, brings a fresh, creative vision and scope to the play, revealing deeper layers of comic interpretation and characterization as he tells the story of a couple of bumbling down-and-out con men who find themselves in a small rural Texas town on a hot July day. The pair attempt to earn some fast cash by staging an impromptu revival meeting for the kindly townsfolk. Ultimately they learn lessons about themselves and the power of generosity and goodness.

Author of several locally produced plays, popular South Haven playwright Linda LaRocque’s Revival at Possum Kingdom Community Church has been produced from Holland Civic to Detroit Repertory. Since its 2007 triumph in the ACTM theater competition, Revival has attracted buzz in the Michigan theater community touring with the same award-winning cast.

Revival cast includes: Loretta Adomeit, Brian M. Everitt, Jolee Hanson, William Muzzillo, Jack C. Oonk, .Linda Larocque - Playwright, and Phil Sturdevant - Director.

The Revival at Possum Kingdom Community Church performance is part of the Fall Mainstage Series, sponsored by Maxton Motors of Allegan and Benton Harbor/Bobbie Gaunt and Jeff Phillips, Restaurant Toulouse and Chequers of Saugatuck, and media partner WGVU.
